In the 1930s, Milton County Georgia merged with Fulton County. The city is located in the former Milton County and at some point it may re-emerge as its own county. Incorporated in 2006, Milton was formed from unincorporated areas of the 30004 zip code in Alpharetta and will soon have its own zip code - 30009.
