Alpharetta At A Glance - A Great Place to Live

Alpharetta is well-known in North Atlanta for successfully combining the best elements of urban and suburban life. Conveniently located in North Fulton County just south of Milton, with easy access to downtown Atlanta and the airport, it provides a fantastic respite from hectic city life. To enjoy the cozy familiarity of small town life residents can catch up with old friends over a hot dog at the Scarecrow Harvest; listen to great music and get a deal at Alpharetta Arts StreetFest; salute at Old Soldiers Day Parade and Race; or try something new at Taste of Alpharetta.

This is a great place for people who like to play hard and enjoy themselves. Homes for sale in Alpharetta are highly prized.

Just recently, Alpharetta expanded the new Big Creek Greenway and conservation area with over 6 miles of scenic trails. Take a hike, ride your bike, it´s all here.  Eventually the Big Creek Greenway will be connected to the trail system in Forsyth County as well.

When you´ve worked off those calories enjoy dinner at one of the 150 restaurants that call Alpharetta home. Foodies can have their pick of spicy Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Brazilian and Caribbean dishes, or savor the more comforting Italian, Irish or American tastes.

And of course, Alpharetta offers the shopping opportunities of a major city in the setting of a quaint small town, making it a wonderful place to find a treasure.  From the charming antique shops and folk art galleries of Main Street to the upscale outdoor experience of the coming Prospect Park and even the all-inclusive North Point Mall, shoppers have no shortage of choices in Alpharetta.

Even entertainment options are plentiful. Alpharetta is home to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at Encore Park that hosts many headlining bands and entertainers. For a more intimate setting, take a quick drive to Roswell for the Kudzu theatre and catch a live show.

Searching for homes for sale in Alpharetta can be a bit confusing even for those of us in the Real Estate business.  The name Alpharetta is used to describe a very large area and not necessarily the actual City of Alpharetta.  This "area" is actually part of three counties and multiple cities.  In 2006 two new cities, Milton and Johns Creek, were formed from unincorporated areas of North Fulton County that were called Alpharetta (and still are by many people).  The name Alpharetta is also used in small sections of South Forsyth and Southeast Cherokee Counties because they use the old Alpharetta Post Office 30004 that carries over into these counties even though they are different cities and counties with different local governments, school systems, tax structures, police and fire services, etc.

For example, if you search for homes in Alpharetta by using the city name that the listing agent used in the MLS you could easily be looking at homes in Cherokee County or the City of Milton and not really in Alpharetta.  Confusing, yes, but easy to figure out once you know your way around the area.

The best way to search for a home for sale in the Alpharetta area is to consult with a
top local Realtor who really knows what they are doing.  Just using the City name Alpharetta can potentially get you the wrong results.  Even a zip code search could land you in the wrong county.  A search by school or MLS code is the best approach.
